Qantas is moving closer to launching its ambitious Project Sunrise flights with the upcoming delivery of its specially configured Airbus A350‑1000ULR aircraft. These jets are designed to operate nonstop routes such as Sydney–London and Sydney–New York, pushing flight durations beyond 19 hours. The aircraft feature additional fuel tanks, increased maximum takeoff weight, and a premium‑heavy cabin layout optimized for ultra‑long‑haul comfort. Qantas has emphasized that these A350‑1000ULRs will set a new benchmark for long‑distance travel, combining advanced efficiency with passenger‑focused amenities. The first delivery is expected in 2027, marking a major milestone in the airline’s long‑range expansion strategy.
